Join us for the fascinating four-week lecture series Key Moments in European Art from the Renaissance to the Rococo presented by Dr Ian Lochhead, focusing on four key moments in which new ways of thinking about art were crystallised in works of some of the most admired European artists.
21 April: The Dramatic Moment: Leonardo da Vinci and The Last Supper
28 April: The Expressive Body: Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel ceiling
5 May: Redefining Portraiture: Rembrandt's Night Watch
12 May: The Invention of the Fête Galante: Watteau's Embarkation at Cythera
Dr Ian Lochhead taught art history at the University of Canterbury from 1981 to 2015. Although best known as an architectural historian, he has taught a wide range of subjects including European art of the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo periods.
Dr Lochhead has generously waived his fee for this lecture series, and all proceeds will be donated to the Christchurch Art Gallery Foundation.
