How is a motorbike art? Can something be jewellery if you can't wear it? Why am I in a gallery, but playing a video game? Drawing on examples from across contemporary New Zealand art, Christchurch Art Gallery curator Felicity Milburn will highlight several absorbing, alternative - and sometimes provocative - practices that test the possibilities of their materials, cross freely into other disciplines and productively blur the boundaries between life and art.

Felicity Milburn is a curator at Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū. Recent curatorial projects have included Doris Lusk: Practical Visionary and GREAT BRITTEN! A work by Billy Apple. Felicity writes regularly about art for the Gallery and for local and international publications and is arts editor for the literary magazine Takahē. She is currently working with internationally renowned New Zealand jewellery artist Lisa Walker on a solo exhibition for the Gallery.
