The fourth feature in the 2020 Christchurch Japanese Film Festival, brought to you by the Consulate of Japan. An adaptation of Yuichi Okano’s essay manga, this film is a compelling drama about dementia and bonds with the past  

Yuichi is a widower living in Nagasaki, and devoted to his elderly mother Mitsue, manga and music. When Mitsue develops dementia, he reluctantly places her in a nursing home. Being with idiosyncratic residents, her memories gradually lead her to retrace her past. Directed by Azuma Morisaki and starring Ryo Iwamatsu, Harue Akagi, Kiwako Harada and Ryo Kase.
