Quirky, engaging and insightful, Departures kicks off the 2020 Christchurch Japanese Film Festival.

A contemporary drama about an unemployed cellist who stumbles on a new career as a nōkanshi – a traditional Japanese ritual mortician. Directed by Yojiro Takita, and starring Masahiro Motoki, Ryoko Hirosue and Tsutomu Yamazaki.
