Walters prize nominees Nathan Pohio and Shannon Te Ao will engage in a lively and informal discussion about Māori artists working in video and other photo media. Drawing material from Māori paradigms, artworks including performance, installation, text, sound and image are all on the table for discussion as these two artists offer various propositions, problems and perhaps resolutions for contemplation.

Artist and curator Nathan Pohio's video and photo-media works are drawn from a contemporary Māori experience. Pohio produces minimal cinematic installations that call upon cinema history while subverting an indigenous presence through representations of nature.

Shannon Te Ao is an artist, writer and curator. His recent output responds to material drawn from Māori paradigms, testing alternative creative, social and linguistic models in relation to contemporary video art and other performative practices.
