Uncomfortable Silence

7 March – 19 July 2020

Fresh work by early career New Zealand artists that is both enigmatic and unsettling.

This exhibition brings together work by artists who intentionally place the audience in an uncomfortable position, and ask the viewer to engage with the inexplicable and problematic. Curated by Holly Best as part of our emerging artist series, Uncomfortable Silence considers how we look, and why that can leave us vulnerable, whilst also critiquing what it is to make and exhibit work within the institution of a public art gallery.
