Join art consultant, Grant Banbury, for a tour of this unique art collection.

Established during the 1980s and 1990s, the collection was the vision of Alex Baird (1938–2003), a lecturer in the French Department at the University of Canterbury, with the aim of offering students living at College House direct access to artworks. Housed in the award-winning buildings, designed in the early 1960s by noted Ōtautahi Christchurch-based architectural firm Warren and Mahoney, both the collection and the buildings are considered of national significance.

Noted artists such as Patrick Hanly, Séraphine Pick, Bill Hammond, Don Binney, Euan Macleod, Julia Morison, Bill Sutton, Gretchen Albrecht, Philip Trusttum, Joanna Braithwaite and Shane Cotton are represented in the collection.

Note:
Afternoon tea will be served in the dining hall following the tour.
