Blending poetry with ambient soundscapes, Josiah Morgan (he/him, Kāi Tahu, Ngāti Maniapoto) and Rōrepo (she/her, Ngāi Tahu, Kāti Mamoe, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Toa, Ngāti Tamatearā) present a performance inspired by Hiwa-i-te-Rangi, the star connected to our dreams, wishes and realising our aspirations for the coming year. The performance explores wishing, grief, renewal, and growth. Reflecting Matariki as a time to honour the past while looking towards the future.
Josiah Morgan (Kāi Tahu, Ngāti Maniapoto) is an experimental writer engaging the the connection between place, memory, violence and love. Born and raised in Ōtautahi, his work connects memory and exorcism. Most recently, he is the author of Black Window, the feature chapbook in Poetry Aotearoa Yearbook 2026.
Rōrepo (Ngāi Tahu, kāti Mamoe, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Toa, Ngāti Tamatearā) is known for sets that blend ambient, techno, experimental sound and field recordings with spoken word. Raised by the creatures of Ōtākaro, Rōrepo listens to the rhythms and whispers of Ōtautahi, transforming them through mixing to tell the stories that have shaped their identity.
