Join Lydia Baxendell, Kaitiaki Kohinga Toi / Art Collections Curator at the University of Canterbury for a guided campus art tour starting in the Puaka James Hight Library.
There are over 5,000 works in the University of Canterbury art collection, making it one of the largest in the region. The major strength of the collection is its representation of Waitaha Canterbury art and artists, in particular those who have taught or studied at UC or the College of Education. Many of these taonga are displayed throughout the campus environment.
On display are works by artists including Margaret Dawson, Andrew Drummond, Fatu Feu’u, Darryn George, Lonnie Hutchinson, Andy Leleisi'uao, Sione Mōnu, Vivianne Mountfort, Nina Oberg-Humphries and Bill Sutton.
Please meet Lydia in the foyer of the Puaka James Hight Library Building (entry level of the Central Library and L2 of the building) at 10am.
There are a lot of stairs at the entry. If you require the lift, please make contact in advance so we can provide access.
Parking is free during the weekend.
