An exciting event is confirmed for early November.
Kaitiaki Toi/Ara Art Curator Julie Humby will talk to the Friends about the Ara artwork collection, Te Kopa Iti, as we take a stroll across the City Campus and view the artworks in public spaces.
The collection contains predominantly New Zealand art works with a Canterbury focus. It was established in 1935 by McGregor Wright (chairperson of the Board of Governors and a practicing member of The Canterbury Art Society), with the gift of sixty-one artworks by contemporary Canterbury artists. The original intention of the collection was to broaden students' education and contribute to the culture of the institution.
