The recent news that the Salamander Gallery will not be re-opening brings an end to a gallery with a long and productive history in Christchurch.

To celebrate the warmer weather I have been running a new 'en plein air' watercolour lesson with school groups around town.

Today is the birthday of Captain James Cook FRS RN (1728–1779).
