Selected proofs

Behind the scenes

Peter Trevelyan's exhibition Selected Proofs is currently on at the University of Canterbury's  SOFA Gallery until 7th September.

Peter's work consists of beautifully delicate, small sculptures constructed of graphite pencil leads that this curator found almost impossible to photograph. They really are stunning works, there must be over 30 of them installed round the walls of the gallery.  I was fortunate enough to come across Peter's installation at Te Manawa a few weeks back in which his work was placed within the context of the geometric drawings of two of my favourite sculptors, Carl Sydow and John Panting, a brilliant exhibition where the synergy of the geometric abstraction of Sydow and Panting worked extremely well with Trevelyan's work.

The Gallery's collection features examples by both Sydow and Panting including the Sydow drawing below.
