Philip Carter Family Auditorium

This tiered auditorium is ideal for performances, talks, seminars and projection-based entertainment. It’s a warm, intimate space with good natural acoustics and easy-to-use facilities. You can hire the auditorium alone, or with a break-out space for catering. If a larger space is required, we suggest hiring the Bayleys Knight Frank Foyer.

The auditorium seats 178. Four seats can be removed to allow for wheelchair access.

Having had five changes of venue since September 2010, the Canterbury Film Society continues to thrive in its new home at the Christchurch Art Gallery on Monday evenings. Our members love the bright, warm, contemporary spaces to share pre-film drinks and conversation, and it’s such a central and well-known place that new members can find us easily. Parking and access could not be easier. Staff at Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu are always extremely professional, welcoming and a pleasure to work with. We feel very well supported and are loving our second fabulous film season in the Gallery’s cosy 172-seater theatre. Thanks very much, Lynn, Lana and team.
