More Animal than Human(e)

29 July –
12 September 1993

This was an exhibition curated by Meredith Hart on the topic of animal exploitation. Images of a number of animals have been selected, largely from the gallery's permanent collection, conveying the diverse and frequently one-sided nature of human-animal relationship. These fell into four different categories of exploitation: farmed, hunted, wild and domestic animals. This exploitation, either explicitly or implicitly apparent, was juxtaposed with photographic representations of equivalent inhumanely treated animals and stuffed trophies.
