WORD Christchurch presents its most exciting festival yet. The spirit of adventure, and of 125 years of women's suffrage, runs through the festival with writers who take risks in their lives as well as their work.

The Witches of Gambaga is the extraordinary story of a community of women condemned to live as witches in Northern Ghana. Made over the course of five years, this disturbing exposé is the product of a collaboration between members of the 100-strong community of ‘witches’ and activists determined to end abusive practices and improve female lives in Africa. Painful experience and insight come together to create an intimate portrait of women ostracised by their communities. Directed by Yaba Badoe, and co-produced by Yaba Badoe and Amina Mama.

This screening runs from 2.30 – 3.30pm.
