Bronwyn Taylor grew up in a family with a ‘consuming interest in history and culture’ and her fascination with the ancient fragments of material culture often informed her art practice. This sculpture was inspired by ritual and domestic objects from Celtic and Mediterranean cultures. A series of objects relating to beauty and adornment, including a mirror, small bottle and torc (neck ring) are laid out on a dressing table. They are accompanied by stylised figures representing the Virgin, Mother and Crone – the identities of the Triple Goddess, a powerful deity revered in many Neopagan traditions.
