Magazine

In this issue of the magazine we ask four artists whose photographs we’ve recently acquired and are exhibiting in Perilous: Unheard Stories from the Collection for their thoughts on photography and their own practice. We also hear from Judy Darragh, whose Pecking Order is on display on our balcony as part of Perilous. Gwynneth Porter reflects on a recent visit to Cheryl Lucas’s studio to see new works in progress as she prepared for her Shaped By Schist and Scoria exhibition. We republish Christina Barton’s essay on Barbara Tuck’s Iris Gate, the earliest work in Barbara Tuck: Delirium Crossing. And Peter Vangioni explores Patricia Bosshard-Brown’s generous gift of works by Jeffrey Harris to the Gallery.

Our Pagework comes from Sam Towse, who offers a small selection of photographs that reveal something of the urban fabric of our city. And My Favourite comes from our former curator Nathan Pōhio. We also include our annual Year in Review, which offers a brief wrap up of some key achievements in the Gallery over the last financial year.
