Menagerie: Animals from the Gallery's Permanent Collections

Menagerie brings together 17 historical and contemporary paintings, prints, photographs and sculpture from the Gallery's Permanent Collections, all of which feature an animal of some description, from cats, dogs and birds to horses, bulls, fish and even a hippopotamus!

Some of the earliest paintings ever made depicted animals and, as this exhibition illustrates, artistic interest in the creatures that share our world has not diminished over the years.

Featured artists: Chrystabel Aitken, Don Binney, Joanna Braithwaite, Barry Cleavin, Duncan Grant, Louise Henderson, Lucy Kemp-Welch, Eileen Mayo, Trevor Moffitt, Julia Morison, Peter Peryer, Ross Ritchie, Lucien Simon, Michel Tuffery, Greer Twiss and Arthur Wardle.

This exhibition was held at the Robert McDougall Art Gallery in the Botanic Gardens.
