Gabor Peterdi: Contemporary American Printmaker

This exhibition comprised 50 large etchings, drypoints, aquatints and engravings by Gabor Peterdi, international artist and Yale Professor of Fine Arts and paintings, covering 30 years from 1947-1977.

 

To coincide with the exhibition the Gallery provided printing technique demonstrations by Barry Cleavin with students from the School of Fine Arts, Ilam and the Christchurch Technical Institute. There was also a short introduction to the prints and techniques of the work of Gabor Peterdi.

This exhibition was encouraged by printmaker Barry Cleavin who had studied under Peterdi at the Honolulu Academy of Arts.
