The Christchurch Art Gallery is the only Australasian venue of this spectacular display of Korean contemporary art. Visually very accessible, this large-scale exhibition contains 26 sculptures by 21 Korean artists, including established names and exciting new talents. The exhibition offers an insight into contemporary Korean society with many of the works incorporating material specific to Korean culture. It focuses on how these artists have created fascinating and surprising works from ordinary materials, including mass-produced consumer products. The opening of Alchemy of Daily Life also celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Christchurch and Songpa-gu Sister City relationship.
Exhibition organised by the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea and presented by Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū.
