As an introduction to SCAPE 7, Auckland Art Gallery Principal Curator, Zara Stanhope, will deliver a keynote address entitled 'The Problem of Public Art'.
This lecture investigates the potential of, and challenges for, new and traditional forms of public art today.A panel discussion will follow in the afternoon, which looks at 'Objects, Environments, Actions: Public Art in the Transitional City'.
The panel is chaired by Christchurch-based writer, curator and art historian Lara Strongman and includes: Christchurch Art Gallery Senior Curator Justin Paton, Gap Filler founder Coralie Winn, and SCAPE 7 curator (and Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art Assistant Director-Curatorial & Digital) Blair French.
