Sculptor Paul Deans will speak about his remarkable journey to a Siberian sculpture festival.
An out-of-the-blue invitation to the Yamal- Nenets district of Siberia sent Paul on a remarkable journey to participate in the Fifth International Wooden Sculpture Festival: 'Legends of the North'. One of sixteen artists—five international and eleven Russian—he sculpted for ten days on the edge of the Arctic Circle in September last year.
Paul Deans is a former president of the Friends and a well-known Christchurch-based sculptor. He has exhibited extensively and is represented in the Gallery's collection.
