Reflecting some of the themes of our collection exhibition He Kapuka Oneone – A Handul of Soil, join us for a special screening of Ever the Land.

The film explores the sublime bond between people and their land as Ngāi Tūhoe commission the construction of their new headquarters, the first certified Living Building in Aotearoa.

After the screening, join director Sarah Grohnert and artist and cultural advisor Chaz Doherty, for a conversation and audience Q&A.

Sarah Grohnert is a director with a strong sense of visual storytelling and the ability to bring endless patience and curiosity to her projects. Ever The Land is Sarah’s debut feature documentary, and has met with international acclaim.

Chaz Doherty (Ngāi Tūhoe) is an artist, researcher, and cultural advisor who lives in the mist-clad mountains of Te Urewera. He lives as close as possible to Papatūānuku and Te Waonui-ā-Tāne to commit to kaitiakitanga, to be responsible pākeke/descendant/caretaker to the spirit that is Te Urewera. As well as featuring in the film, Chaz was an integral guide throughout the journey of making the film.
