If you are interested in cast iron printing presses, early Canterbury history or just at a loose end at mid-day tomorrow our curator Peter Vangioni is delivering a talk titled 'A Thousand Pities: being a history of the first printing presses in Canterbury' to the Friends of the Christchurch City Libraries... Fendalton Library at 12.30pm.

School's back
You may have noticed this week that traffic is bad again – that means term two has begun! As usual we have a busy education programme planned. Since the opening of Burster Flipper Wobbler Dripper Spinner Stacker Shaker Maker, school groups have been taking guided tours and lessons at ArtBox. Below is a review the exhibition by local home schooler Tierney Reardon.

James Robinson's Set Fire To Self - Drown 4 entered the collection almost a decade or so ago, and the prolific Dunedin artist has gone on to win the Wallace Art Awards and produce a huge body of work since.

Bulletin survey
Here at the Gallery, we're very proud of what we do. We strive to present new and interesting art in Christchurch, to support local practitioners and institutions and to promote an awareness of the place of the arts in this city. While our building has been closed, we've been doing this through our Outer Spaces programme of art in the city, online and through our ambitious publishing programme.

We were sorry to hear of the recent death of Christchurch potter David Brokenshire, who was known for delicate and expressive ceramic works that reflected his fascination with the natural world.
