This programme was designed by Bret de Thier. Festival highlights included the NZBC Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Octet, New Zealand Ballet, a season of James K Baxter poems, Lulu and Ivan Rebroff. The visual arts programme included weaver Peter Collingwood, potters Michael Trumic and Uragami, a W A Sutton retrospective and the exhibition Canterbury Confrontations.
