Brian Crook, a highly respected Christchurch singer-songwriter and electric guitar virtuoso from legendry band The Renderers, also performs and records solo projects under the moniker Anti-Clockwise. As Anti-Clockwise Crook departs from the confines imposed by performing in a rock band, and pursues his interest in creating and recording unconventional sounds. In this new track Crook abandons his guitar and focuses instead on highly processed, computer-enhanced sounds. The seemingly random array of noises – from rhythmic waves of distorted, hard-edged fuzz to quiet blips of varying frequencies – imbue the track with a highly mechanised, industrial feel.
