Looking for something to do with the kids that's free, low-key, and good fun? The 2026 Kiwi Conservation Club Open Day is coming to the Gallery on Sunday 13 September, from 10am to 2pm.
We’re hosting a hands-on day of nature and art for curious kids aged 5–13, and it's completely drop-in. Turn up when it suits! You can stay for 40 minutes or the full four hours, just whatever works for your whānau.

Getting up close with nature by building your own bug viewer
Nature-inspired art and crafts
Drawing your favourite creatures
Environmental film - Think like a Forest - A quiet space to think about our environment and listen to those working to protect it.
Plus the Bird Land exhibition and Trail to explore
Activities run as short sessions of 10 to 30 minutes on a simple timetable. Spaces are limited and first come, first served, so a bit of flexibility helps
