A Christchurch Pride 2020 event! John Walter’s A Virus Walked into a Bar is a narration of the life cycle of the HIV virus, set somewhere between Coronation Street and Twin Peaks.
Walter is a polymath cheerleader for shonky in all its forms, and not only wrote, directed and co-edited the film, but produced its costumes and designed the sound. (20 minutes)
Walter is in Aotearoa to present a performance in Queer Algorithms, an Auckland Festival exhibition organised by the University of Auckland’s Gus Fisher Gallery.
