Work with artist Sarah Hudson (Ngāti Awa, Ngāi Tūhoe) to create headwear that protects you from surveillance and facial recognition technology.

This workshop is run in conjunction with the exhibition Māori Moving Image: An Open Archive and explores ideas of agency, privacy and identity in a CCTV world, and is one in a series she has held. Materials supplied, but please feel free to bring your own native plant matter – fresh or dried.

Hudson’s art practice is founded in photography, performance and installation, and the central themes that inform her work are an investigation of mātauranga Māori, mana wahine, popular media culture, gender and sport. Based in Whakatāne, she completed a master’s in Fine Arts with distinction through Massey University Wellington in 2010, and has exhibited widely in her individual practice and with the outstanding and highly sought-after Mata Aho collective.

5.30-6.30pm.
