💜 6-7.30pm ~ Join artist Heidi Brickell for a drop-in making wānanga using knot tying to explore the concept of ātawhai as a love principle and a modality of pursuing relationship. "Whether within the intimacy of one to one relationships or the broader modality of relationships to groups of people we share in society with, ātawhai is a love that engenders a tenacious seeking of the heart, through quietness, respect, waiting, forgiving, perceiving, and appreciating, of the other towards harmony and mutuality". Brickell’s work is currently on display in our exhibition 'Spring Time is Heart-break: Contemporary Art in Aotearoa'.
💜 7.45pm ~ Riki Pirihi (Cave Circles) will perform a semi-improvised modular synthesis set, in response to the work of Heidi Brickell. Pirihi is a freelance multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer, academic and sound artist, based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.
💜 6-9pm ~ Angel C. Fitzgerald's films 'CLOSE UR EYES, MAKE A WISH' and 'Forever' will be screened on the big screen! This looping series will restart every hour in the Philip Carter Family Auditorium.
💜 Our pop-up bar will be out, so shout your date / friend / yourself a drink!
💜 All our exhibitions are open until 9pm! What better time to explore the depths of 'Spring Time is Heart-break: Contemporary Art in Aotearoa'.
