Leonard Beaumont was a self-taught printmaker and noted graphic designer. He began producing highly accomplished and detailed etchings during the 1920s before turning to the linocut in 1930. His linocuts are far more progressive both in technique and subject matter, and works such as Grog show the influence of cubism. Beaumont’s linocuts were included in the Annual Exhibitions of British Lino-Cuts at the Redfern and Ward galleries during the 1930s and he also published two exceptional books on how to make linocuts in 1932 and 1933.
