Painter, potter and printmaker Juliet Peter grew up on a sheep farm on the dry, golden plains of Waitaha Canterbury, but she spent much of her adult life in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, where the increasingly untamed garden of her Ngaio home met the lush native bush of the surrounding hills. She loved this landscape most when it was at its wildest; under a moonlit sky, buffeted by winds or dripping with rain after a downpour. Here, in verdant blues and greens, Peter presents the kahere as a complex, interconnected ecosystem, humming with mystery and the activity of hidden lives.
