This as yet unattributed painting is set near an idyllic valley we are positioned outside the frame of shaded foliage that leads into the sunlit scene. Everything is focused around the centre of the painting, with people going about their day and a house nestled near the water’s edge. Greens occupy the fore and mid grounds, and sunlight is directed at key areas of interest to create an intimate sense of enclosure, while the giant mountains behind recede into a classically opaque atmosphere with blue tinge.
