Great Offley lies between Hitchin and Luton, in Hertfordshire, England, some 60 kilometres north of London.
The building with the overhanging upper storey and two people at the door is Court Cottage (formerly the village post office) and the tallest building in the painting is Vine Cottage. Running at right angles to both these buildings is Court House. The pink building on the extreme left is the Old Bull public house – now a private residence.
We are extremely grateful to Malcolm Smith for providing this information.
