Going home in the dark
Behind the scenes
On a balmy night last week Nathan Pohio and myself were making our way home through the city streets only to be greeted by this great big backlit monolith being torn apart by a nibbler.
It was once the famed Park Royal Hotel, designed by Warren and Mahoney, which was built right across Victoria Street on the intersection of Durham and Kilmore streets around 1988. There's something about the sound of those nibblers, the sound of crushing steel and concrete that makes your teeth grind, the grip has some real power to it cutting right through reinforced croncrete beams like butter. After the night time spectacle this demo job certainly gets my vote for best demo of 2012 but there is still a way to go yet.
