The sixth exhibition catalogue, from 1913, attracted works from artists locally and across New Zealand. Circulars for the exhibition advertised that James Craigie, the former Mayor, intended to acquire works from the exhibition for the South Canterbury Art Gallery using the “splendid gift to him from the citizens” of Timaru. The organisers were highly successful in attracting some of New Zealand’s most significant artists.
