In 1936 the National Art Gallery opened.

The new Gallery opened with five distinct exhibitions: the British Empire Loan Collection, the Murray Fuller Collection of Contemporary British Art, a New Zealand Architecture Collection, the National Permanent Collection and the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts Annual Exhibition.

All were assembled in a single catalogue, but only pages 66 to 96 (the Academy exhibition) are digitized here.
