Three New Zealand Photographers

This exhibition is now closed

This was a survey exhibition of contemporary photographs arranged by John Turner, Lecturer in Photography at the Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland. There were 75 works, 25 each by Gary Baigent, Richard Collins and John Fields.

With the exception of two American photographs by John Fields, all were made in New Zealand between 1964 and 1972; a period of remarkable vitality during which these photographers helped redirect serious New Zealand photography away from so-called pictorialism towards a more relevant and penetrating vision of the day.

The photographs were selected from a large body of work to show some of the concerns and significant images of three of New Zealand's finest contemporary photographers.
