Rembrandt Etchings

21 October –
21 November 1970

Selected from the National Gallery in Wellington, 47 Rembrandt etchings were shown to mark the tercentenary of his death in 1669. The exhibition also coincided with the opening of the Continental Fair in Christchurch. The original etchings were on show at the Gallery while reproductions were displayed at the Fair.

The etchings, made between 1631-1656, were divided into three distinct groups; portraits, landscapes, and biblical studies.
