Sally Adair: People and Places
6 March –
20 March 1976

The Press, Wednesday 3 March, 1976
Sally Adair and her family went on a journey across Europe and Asia for seventeen months from October 1973 and the result was a series of 64 black and white photographs taken in the Middle East and the Near East.
Portraits were taken with respect and sensitivity, with most subjects looking directly at the camera. Being a woman she was able to photograph women, especially Moslem women, more easily had she been a man.
People and Places was one of the three exhibitions held at the Robert McDougall Art Gallery as part of the Christchurch Arts Festival Programme in 1976.
