Paintings and Drawings by Mina Arndt

1 October –
15 October 1961

Mina Arndt was born near Queenstown in 1885 and died at Motueka in 1926. Her work was considerably influenced by Lovis Corinth with whom she studied in Berlin. It was hoped that this exhibition of 40 paintings, drawings and etchings would restore her name and work to twentieth century New Zealand painting.

Mr Stewart MacLennan, Director of the National Gallery selected the works from the large retrospective exhibition held by the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts in Wellington, June-July 1961.

Mina Arndt's work is in galleries in England, France, Australia and New Zealand.

The exhibition drew 448 visitors.
