Japanese Calligraphy Exhibition

10 December –
10 December 1978

This cultural event was organised by the Christchurch Consul of Japan.

Mrs Iwako Sakai gave a demonstration of Japanese calligraphy and married it with Tanaka, which is modern Japanese verse. She also gave a brief history of calligraphy in Japan and gave an outline of the brushes, inks, and ink stones.

A selection of her works, and a few works of other calligraphers was shown.

It was a well attended, memorable and highly successful afternoon.
