Ilford Shield Inter-Secondary Schools Photographic Exhibition

This exhibition is now closed

Some six years ago H.E. Perry Ltd., presented the Photographic Society of New Zealand with the Ilford Shield for competition amongst Secondary School Camera Clubs throughout New Zealand.

The Annual competition, financed by H.E. Perry Ltd., is administered by the Photographic Society of New Zealand and is run each year by an affiliated Club. Last year the Waikato Photographic Society Inc., organised it, this year it is being run by the Hagley Camera Club.

The competition is divided into slides and prints and covers Nature Study and Open classes. It is fast becoming a popular and prestige event. The skill and enthusiasm shown by competitors is reflected in the 254 merit certificates issued last year.

It is interesting to note that in 1975 28 schools participated, this year, to date, 65 schools throughout New Zealand have applied for entry forms.

The school with the highest number of points wins the Shield and holds it for one year. Henderson High School won it in 1975.

A selection of prints entered will be displayed in the McDougall Art Gallery from 12th to 28th August. A programme of slides will be shown on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday afternoons commencing 17th August between 2.15 p.m. and 3.15 p.m.
