This exhibition is now closed
For the first time on record the Gallery held a formal opening without the exhibition because it had not arrived in time. The exhibition was delayed by closed airports in the North Island and then a strike at Christchurch airport. However, a quick scramble around Christchurch revealed a good collection of traditional prints at the Christchurch Public Library which were hung in time.
The exhibition arrived safely later in the day and was of first rate artistic quality.
It drew very favourable reviews in the newspapers and it was seen by a total of 7,640 people including eight school parties.
