Exhibition of Ikebana

24 May –
1 June 1986

An exhibition of ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arrangement, will be held for the first time at the Robert McDougall Art Gallery as part of Japan Week 1986. The Japanese flower arrangements are being done by Mr Fred Hollingworth who learnt ikebana in Japan after becoming interested in the art form at the first Pan Pacific festival. The flowers will be in glass containers allowing people to see both the inside and outside of the arrangements. He hopes the exhibition will give ikebana some recognition as an art form.

The exhibition will be opened by the Japanese Consul, Mr T. Aoki.
