Contemporary French Painting

This exhibition is now closed

This exhibition of 65 paintings was organised by the French Embassy in Wellington. The paintings were mostly oils, which represented the main trends over the last few years among the artists working at the Paris School. Side by side were works of young artists still relatively unknown in France, and those of worldwide reputation, all expressing a very personal view of their art, which could be called abstract or figurative, or which sometimes belonged to no specific category.

The then Director Rodney Wilson described the catalogue as mean, little and non-illustrated.
