British Children’s Art

16 July –
4 August 1963

After an extended tour of Australia, the British Council brought British Children's Art to New Zealand.

The exhibition comprised sixty paintings by children of ages four to fourteen. Most of the children expressed the familiar sights and objects in everyday life in bold and solid colours.

Whether upright or horizontal the paintings were uniformly framed and not glazed. With each exhibit, the title, name and age as well as the name of the school attended were given in bold type.

School parties were admitted free, otherwise admission was 1/- and 6d for juniors.
