Banners from New York

This exhibition of 18 banners from the Multiples Gallery, New York and the 1969 Auckland Festival was presented with assistance from the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council.

Most of the artists were forerunners and exponents of pop art. The banners were made in limited editions for sale and displayed in the same manner as medieval tapestries.

Artists included Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Helen Frankenthaler, Nicholas Krushenick, Ernest Trova, Marisol, Tom Wesselmann and Adja Yunkers.
