Art from Canada's West Coast

27 July –
10 August 1971

Twenty-nine works by Canadian artists were drawn from the city of Vancouver Art Gallery. From the work of N.E.Thing Co. to the more conventional idiom of E.J. Hughes was a far cry, but between the two styles the great range of Canadian art was encapsulated.

According to Canadian critics of the day, Vancouver, because it lacks a sense of tradition, developed a manner of expression which relied on no one culture and this gives the work an amazing range.
