An exhibition of works from the Gallery's permanent collection selected by renowned Canterbury artist W.A. Sutton.
Personal Choice is a selection of paintings from the permanent collection chosen by the honoured Canterbury artist, W.A. Sutton. With a strong and expert interest in ecclesiastical architecture and the history of the church, he is a Renaissance scholar of distinction.
Over the next twelve months the Gallery will mount a series of these exhibitions with the aim of showing aspects of the permanent collection through the personal preferences of a number of well-known Christchurch citizens.

William A. Sutton (1917–2000) was known as 'Bill' to his many friends, students and admirers. He was a 'Canterbury' man – born in Christchurch and, except for some brief periods away, lived here all his life. Bill Sutton found the landscape of the region endlessly fascinating and it provided a lifetime's source of subject matter.
